Graveyard

[She pulls herself out of the grave with ease, and she immediately has an urge to find the people from home and those in Mayfield she's made friends with.]

[Her disgust at the low cut dress she's wearing is only secondary to this urge. And she can't help but walk with her hands out in front of her.]

Around Town

[Has she met you? Does she know you from home? If so, you might get a feeling that someone is watching you. And for some reason, she can't react as quickly as usual, so you'll probably catch her at it.]

[And Black☆Star, she just might try to carry you away.]

[Just walking home, minding his own business and then suddenly Tsubaki. THIS IS GOOD! She's back! Black☆Star won't go on a horrible rampage! Also good, because he doesn't want to get another black eye trying to stop him.]

[The relief on Black☆Star's face when Tsubaki resurfaced was almost palpable. His partner wasn't gone, she was here! And fine! All was right with the world!]

[... well, there's still a few questions left though]

[And as Black☆Star is being carried away, the important ones are the first ones to come up]

Why are you dressed all sexy, Tsubaki?

[She's not sure why she's scooped him up, but now she is heading back to their house.]

I woke up like this, in a grave. Did something happen, Black☆Star?

[She really wants to change, but the urge to find everyone in town she knows makes it easy to shrug off how uncomfortable she is in the dress.]

[Oh, he spotted her...and she'd forgotten about what she was wearing until he asked, so much so that she actually has to look down to remind herself.]

I, uh, woke up in it, and I keep forgetting about it.

[When she looks back up at him she notices the black eye.]

What happened to your eye?

[She struggling with worry that he's hurt and worry that he is too marred to be a good addition to her crypt. ~~Collecting her friends would be so much easier with Noah's copy of the book of Eibon.~~]

[Okay. So Kid is starting to get a really good idea of what strange things go on here in Mayfield. Regardless, he can't help but stop in his tracks and stare at Tsubaki when he sees her. He'd known she'd vanished, and was happy to see her return.]

[Except maybe he wasn't completely convinced that he was looking at Tsubaki and not another poor imitation.]

Tsubaki...?

[Following someone unnoticed was really had when she couldn't be as stealthy as usual.]

[Hands still out in front of her, she gives a nod as she approaches him.]

Hi, Kid.

Are you all right?

[This question is getting old. But last he checked, Tsubaki didn't shuffle along like the undead with her hands in front of her wearing a low-cut black dress...So though it's a question he's asked quite a few times this week, it is definitely not redundant.]

You woke up in a sexy dress and forgot about it?

Oh this? [points to his black eye] Your Meister's doppelganger happened, that's all.

[Her meister is conflicted. On the one hand, she's there and safe. On the other hand she never should have been in a grave to begin with, and what's happening doesn't seem normal]

... so the town tried to mess with me just to put you in a skimpy dress?!

DAMMIT! DON'T BE SO FORWARD, YOU STUPID TOWN!

[She'd already forgotten about the dress again.]

Other things have been more important than what I'm wearing.

[And at the mention of Black☆Star, she suddenly wondering why she hadn't found him first.]

Sorry. Are you going to be all right?

[But more importantly.]

Have you seen Black☆Star?

Fine, I just needed to make sure everyone was okay.

[That seems like a much more suitable answer than that she has the sudden urge to stalk her friends.]

[The dress, why did everyone have to remind her that she was wearing it? Getting Black☆Star to the basement was much more important than what she was wearing.]

But you're always forward Black☆Star, I don't see how the town beat you.

[He looks her over carefully, then crosses his arms and nods. She's right. Whatever this is, it doesn't count]

[And when he's ready, he'll show the town how a REAL STAR handles this sort of courtship!]

You're right. I'll just have to show Mayfield how it's really done when I'm ready.

[She nods in agreement.]

I'm sure you'll really show this town, Black☆Star, especially once you're ready.

[She has no idea what he's talking about, but she has complete faith in him. And now she sees their house.]

[All she has to do now is get him inside and to her crypt...to the basement.

[Their house? He blinks in confusion, still not even bothering to consider struggling against her]

Wait, we were just going home? You didn't have to carry me for that.

[And to the basement, but she doesn't have to tell him that.]

People are acting strange, I need to make sure you're safe at home where no one else can carry you off.

[She hadn't considered having to open the door while holding him, it's kind of difficult. She stops for a minute, then looks down at him.]

My hands are full, could you just turn the door knob?

[This still doesn't add up. Tsubaki knows he's strong enough to crush anyone or anything that'd try to carry him away - he'd never allow it. What's this really about? He thinks for a moment, and then...]

Are you sure you're not asking me out?

[She's not sure if her face could get anymore red.]

Yes, no, I don't know. Something is telling me I need to make sure that you are mine and no one else's.

[And the answer is yes, because she can feel her face heat even more as those words fall out of her mouth. She's not sure what compelled her to say it, but she had to say it just like she had to carry him off.]

I don't know what's going on Black☆Star. Did something happen yesterday? I can't remember.

[Yes, that is a much more suitable answer. Except still strange.]

If you say so. This isn't how I'd expect you to go about that, though. You could have called. Black☆Star was worried sick, though he'd never admit it. It was easy enough to tell.

[She nods.]

I didn't mean to worry you guys. I'm sorry. I don't know what happened yesterday.

[If he notices her embarrassment he doesn't say a word about it, opting instead to open the door like she had asked]

That's silly. Who else would I want to be my weapon?

[Is it a trick of the town? That'd make sense, but... his body tenses in her arms as he thinks of the previous day]

You weren't around yesterday, Tsubaki.

[She smiles at at his comment about not wanting another weapon.]

[At least she hadn't done anything horrible.]

When did the graves show up.

[Had she been underground an entire day?]

[At the mention of the graves, his tension turns into suppressed anger as the memories flood his mind. Digging up the ground in a frenzy, finding the casket and the bones - the bones, the ones he was so sure belonged to his partner... the rage Soul and Kid had worked to contain...]

We're not talking about the graves.

[She doesn't even have to look in his eyes to know it's a sore subject, and then when he says they're not going to talk about it.]

I'm sorry, Black☆Star.

[And now she's taking him through the house and down the stairs to the basement.]
